I realised recently, that no-one comments on the weight of men in my family - they are acceptable as they are, but the women have to conform to very narrow standards of what is considered attractive. The worst thing is, I have so imbibed those standards, that I have to constantly guard against judging myself and others on them. I think sexism is still rife. It's tragic but it's there. I'm not American but the treatment of Hillary Clinton, and the treatment that appears to be given to Michelle Obama, is pretty sickening.
