Find Page 123.

Find the first 5 sentences.
Continuing description of a poor illegal immigrant from Mexico searching for his wife, América, in a grocery store.

Post the next 3 sentences.
“He didn’t see América. She must be down one of the aisles pushing a basket. He tried to look nonchalant as he passed by the checkers and entered the vast cornucopia of the place.”

  6. Thought I’d qualify my “hard to read” statement, above, realizing that it could be taken to mean that it’s challenging intellectually, which it is not, in my opinion. It is, however, difficult to read because of the misunderstandings between the protagonists (one of which, you could argue, becomes an antagonist by the end), and because of the plight of the Mexican characters.

  7. when I get my bearings I’ll do both of your memes, (someone else tagged me for the book one too…) and maybe Scout will do it, too… depends on the length of the books she’s reading right now!

  8. aaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhh! Just found this. Will post, I promise!

  9. Charlotte, no worries!! (I didn’t think memes were your favorite thing, anyway.)
